As an administrator, you can group multiple attributes in a CI attribute template and can attach the template to a CI record. The grouping helps the related attributes appear when the related CI detail is selected from the ticket or the CI details are viewed from the CI list in the CI Management Workspace. For example, you can create a CI attribute template for the Printer CCTI categorization. All the additional attributes in the CI attribute template can be included and attached to the Category-Class-Type-Item (CCTI) categorization. If you drill down to the related CI details in the ticket, the additional fields appear in the Additional Information section of the ticket. You can delete an attribute from a CI Attribute template. However, the value field and its associated value remain in all older records where the attribute was applied.

Info

Considerations

...

  1. Create CI Attribute Template: Navigate to MANAGE, ADMINISTRATION, Tools, MANAGE> ADMINISTRATION> Tools> Custom Asset/CI Attribute Templates, and click Create New.
  2. Fill in the basic details and click Apply Changes.
  3. Add the Attributes: To add attributes to the CI attribute template, click Create New on the Attributes tab.
If you select the Add During Creation option and relate the CI attribute template to a CI, the application automatically relates the attribute to the CI record. If you do not select this option, the attribute becomes optional. You can manually relate the attribute to a CI record through the Attach Attribute action. Select the Update Existing Configuration Items option and update the existing CIs with the attributes. The Sort Order controls the positioning of attributes on the form.
  4. Relate CI Attribute Template to CCTI: To select a CCTI categorization and related it to the CI attribute template, use the Related CCTI tab.
  5. Click Apply Changes.
