CA Cloud Service Management helps you manage all the aspects of IT assets in your organization. In this context, Assets include all elements of software and hardware that are found in the environment. For example, servers, laptops, desktops, virtual machines, operating systems and other assets that are deployed in your network.

This section helps you understand how to populate your asset repository, manage it, and use it for service management.

We recommend that you follow a change control process for any modifications to your assets to prevent unauthorized updates in your infrastructure. For example, from a change request, relate the asset to the change and use task tickets and change approvals to manage the asset updates. The approval phases ensure that the appropriate change approvals are received before modifying an asset. The tasks related to the change request should be assigned to the necessary groups or individuals only after the approval, to ensure that appropriate procedures are being followed for asset updates.

You can track the updates to assets using advanced reports. You can run reports to pull a list of all the assets that have been recently modified or added in your infrastructure. You can then compare these reports with the open Change Requests and ensure that all updates done by discovery or other methods have active approvals.
