Discovery Log Files

Log files are available to view detailed information about discovery in case of any failures. 

Asset Discovery Manager Logs

Asset Discovery Manger log files by navigating to <Asset Discovery Manager installed path>\Logs. The following log files are available: 

  • AssetConnector.log: This file logs information from the third-party packages such as Quartz, Apache HTTP client, and CouchDB.
  • NAM.log: This file logs information that is related to discovery scheduler, discovery job, and import.

Note: You can change the log levels to view detailed information about discovery. Ensure that no discovery job is running, if you change the log level properties while any of the following services are running:

  • Active MQ Service
  • Apache Couch DB Service
  • Asset Discovery Manager Service
  • Asset Discovery Processor Service
  • Messaging Service Port
  • Processor Service Port

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the log4j properties file. The log4j file is found here <installed drive>\CA\Asset Connector\Connector\conf\config\log4j.properties.
  2. Change the log level property(log4j.category.com.ca) from INFO to DEBUG as follows:
    log4j.category.com.ca=DEBUG, NAM
  3. Save the file.
  4. Restart the Asset Discovery Manager windows service.

Asset Discovery Processor Logs

The Asset Discovery Processor logs are available in the folder <Processor install home>\Logs. To view the detailed information, change the log level from WARN to DEBUG. The following log files are available: 

  • DiscoveryProcessorService.log: This file logs details from Java Service Wrapper and contains details of starting and stopping the Windows Service.
  • NAMDiscovery.log: This file logs the following information:
    Details about processing batches from the Asset Discovery Manager.
    Details about the calls from the Jetty Web Service.
    Details about the Persistence to CouchDB.
  • NAMDiscoveryUtils.log: This file logs the Standard Output of the Jetty Service. NAMDiscoveryUtils.log file logs details on starting and stopping the Jetty. 
  • NAMDiscoveryWebServer.log : This file logs the detailed information about deep discovery.
