Export and Import Bot Skills

At times, you might have already tested content in one Bot and want to move the content to another Bot like from Staging environment to Production environment.

Luma Bot builder application provides Export and Import feature which enables you to export Custom Skills, OOTB Skills, Default System skills, and Small talk without having the need to recreate the content in the target Bot.

Exporting Skills  

The Export process allows us to export specific or all custom Skills that are available in your Tenant.

I. To Export All Skills, follow the below steps:

  1. In the Source environment, navigate to Export& Import

  2. Click Export on the Export & Import page

  3. Select Skills under Skill Builder option

  4. Click Export. All the custom skills available in the bot are downloaded in a .zip file on your local computer.

II. To Export Specific Skills, follow the below steps:

  1. Click Skill Builder on the Bots menu on the left navigation panel. 

  2. Select the Skills you want to export by clicking the checkbox

  3. Under more options icon, select Export

  4. On the confirmation message, click Export Selected. To export all skills in your bot, select Export All.

  5. The selected Skills will be downloaded in a .zip file on your local computer.

  • Along with the selected skills, all related entities used in the skills like Attributes, Integrations, and Custom User Attributes (except Users and Groups) are also exported to the zip folder. This ensures that the skills are not broken when imported into another tenant.

Importing Skills

The Import process allows you to import the .zip file (generated in the above step) and create the Skills and related entities in the target system.

Follow the below steps to import the skills:

  1. In the Target environment, navigate to Export& Import.

  2. Browse and select the exported zip file.

  3. Click Import and select Yes to confirm the Import. The Import status is displayed once the Import process starts.

  4. Upon completion of the Import process, the selected skills and related entities are imported into the target bot.

  5. Run Build and Publish to make the skill available in the Virtual Agent.

Your Skills are now ready for use in the Target bot without recreating the same.

In case of an error in the Import History section, click on the record to view the detailed logs or summary of the import process.
