Build and Publish process is used to train the bot on conversations and Skills designed in Bot Builder. It ensures that Virtual Agent understands the user intent and processes the services as requested.
The Build and Publish process allows publishing any new changes made to Skills , including attributes, integrations and Attributes to make them available to for the bot. Any changes made to the skills cannot be executed by users until they are published. Build and Publish activity is used end-users. The process must be run in the following scenarios:
Creation of a Skill
Changes to User Phrases on Skills
New Attribute (global) created
Value, Synonym, and Regex Changes to an Attribute
Updates to Small Talk and System Skill
Change the Skill status to Active or Inactive Inactive.

When the process starts, a toast message with 'Build and Publish in Progress' in Blue color appears.
Once the process is completed successfully, a toast message with the status "Build and Publish completed Successfully" in Green appears.
In case the process is failed, "Build and Published failed" toast message appears in Red.
The Red dot indicates Build and Publish is required with a message :There are few changes/additions in skills, system skills, small talk or attributes. Please build the ML models and publish them to Bot for the changes to take effect. :
A 'Blue' dotrequired. A Red dot next to the Build and Publish option indicates that one or more items are Pending for Publish. A message banner also appears on the Build and Publish page in case there are items awaiting Publishing. You may also see the pending items in the Skill Builder list and Attribute List with Pending for Publishing status. Any of the aforementioned updates are not available for users until they are published. |
To Build & Publish the changes, follow the below steps:
Navigate to Build and Publish.
Click Build & Publish button.
The Execution status changes to In Progress. The indicator on the left navigation changes from Red to Blue meaning from Pending to In Progress, which represents Ongoing Build and Publish activity.
Once the process is completed, a success message is displayed.
Updated Skills or Attributes are ready for use.
Note: All the Build and Publish status , is displayed on Build and Publish icon in the left-hand navigation.For more information, please refer Build and Publish are updated via toast messages- Start, In progress, Complete.Once Build and Publish is complete, you will be notified about the process status via the toast message. You can continue to make changes on the skill builder while the Build and Publish process is In Progress.
