Knowledge Artifact Lifecycle

Every Artifact in Luma Knowledge follows the below lifecycle:

When an artifact is created in Luma knowledge, it goes through the artifact review process. Artifact is initially created in the Draft state and is pending review and approval. Once approved, the artifact is Published. The artifact is then available to end-users to view, use and provide feedback. This is the default approval process.

You can customize the default approval flow and publish the artifact if mandatory metadata Topic, Subject, and Action are available. Refer to Default Artifact State in Tenant Configurations for more information.

The curator is also responsible for the quality of knowledge in the system. Curator uses the user feedback to improve Knowledge i.e. keeping the artifact content up to date and remove any incorrect or obsolete information. Based on the user feedback, artifacts are reviewed and can be updated or retired as required. The Retired artifacts are not accessible to the end-user. These artifacts can be either reinstated by updating the content or Deleted permanently from the system.

Artifacts States determines:

  • Activities that can be performed on the artifact such as updates, deletions.

  • Users who can view the artifact

  • Feasible Status transitions
