How to Search for Knowledge

Once the Knowledge is Built and Published, End-users can search for Artifact through Search Widget, Luma Virtual Agent, or any other integrated application using simple phrases or questions. Luma Knowledge generates metadata from the user query and uses it to find relevant artifacts from the Knowledge Base.

It is important that the user queries are well-structured so that Luma Knowledge can extract appropriate metadata from the query and identify matching Artifacts.

To search an artifact, follow the below step:

  1. Open the Search Widget.

  2. On the Search tab, type the phrase or query in the search box and press Enter.

  3. Luma Knowledge processes the query and generates metadata. This metadata is used to find and present relevant Knowledge artifacts as search results. This is called Best Response.

  4. Now based on the count of matching artifacts found, their hierarchy in Knowledge Graph and configurations set for your tenant, Luma Knowledge presents the response in two ways:

    1. Artifact List: Identified Artifacts are presented in a simple top-down list. The best match artifacts are listed at the top of the list. End-user can browse through the list and locate the required artifact.

    2. Guided Conversation: If the identified Artifacts are related to different Topics, Luma Knowledge may need more information to identify the best matching Artifact. In such a case, a Guided conversation is generated. Luma Knowledge presents the end-user with the related Topics to narrow down the search. This ensures that the end-user is intelligently directed to the most relevant artifact, instead of browsing through the list of all match artifacts.

  5. Select the required Artifact and view details.

You can also provide feedback on the Search Results or the Knowledge Artifact content. This feedback is used by the curator to Improve the Knowledge available in the system. Various KPIs and Recommendations on Knowledge Availability, Effectiveness, and usefulness of the content are derived from the feedback. For more information, refer to Knowledge Search | Feedback.

Result presentation is dependent on the topic hierarchy of the identified Artifacts and the configurations set for your Tenant. You can change the configurations or topic-artifact relationship to present the user with Guided conversations. For more information, refer to Tenant Configurations | Search.
