Using a Regular Template

Regular Template allows a Curator to use the organization-specific templates to create Artifact. Organization-specific custom templates enable the curator to create artifacts using documents that do not follow the Heading-Text format; such documents cannot be directly imported (Semantic Analysis process). These documents can be used to create the artifacts manually or import documents using these templates,

Organization-specific custom templates are configured in Luma Knowledge to create Artifacts manually. Refer to Create and Manage Knowledge Templates for more details.

Creating an Artifact

Follow the below steps to create an Artifact using the Regular Template manually:

  1. On the Create Artifact window, navigate to Using Template tab.

  2. Select Regular Template as Template Type.

  3. On the Template list, select the required Knowledge Template.

  4. Add Artifact Name.

  5. Add Summary. It is important that the Summary is well-formed and articulates the information in the document well. The NLP engine uses the text in this Summary field to generate Metadata. If the Language Model is enabled for the tenant, you may skip the Summary field.

  6. Select a Domain from the Domain list. This represents the area, department, region, or field the Artifact belongs to. The Domains available on the list are available out of the box. To update the list, refer to Adding a new domain on Knowledge Graph.

  7. Now based on the selected template, add information in the Content fields.

  8. Once the content is ready, Click on Generate Ontology.

  9. The Artifact is now created in Luma Knowledge and is available in the Knowledge store.

If your tenant is enbaled to use Generative AI, you can skip providing information in the summary field. The Summary is automatically generated based on the content.

Processing the Artifact

'Generate Ontology' generates ontology for an artifact. The Metadata is added to the artifact, which is then used to identify Knowledge during the search. When Open AI features are enabled for your tenant, 'Generate Ontology' performs the following:

  1. Summarize Artifact- If Automatic Summarization is enabled for your tenant, the content in the artifact is used to generate a Summary. In case the curator adds the Summary during artifact creation, the step is skipped.

  2. Generate Keywords and Key Phrases: Based on the Summary and Article Content, metadata attributes like Topic, Subject Action, Motivation, and Key Phrases are generated. If Automatic Keyword and Key Phrase generation is enabled for your tenant, the system automatically generates valid and meaningful full keywords and key phrases. On click of Generate Ontology, the NLP engine parses the information added to the Artifact and identifies the metadata, which is used to understand the user’s intent during the search.

  3. Question and Answer: Luma Knowledge can predict the questions that can be answered based on the Artifact content. In case Question-Answer generation is enabled for your tenant, the system automatically generates Questions and corresponding responses from the content.

Reviewing Artifact

As a Curator, you should verify and ensure that the metadata generated by the system is correct and Artifact is related to the correct Topic. If the automatically generated Topic is not available in the Knowledge Graph, then the artifact is assigned to the default Topic of the selected domain.

In case any changes are required, follow the below steps:

  1. Click on Edit.

  2. Add the required keyword to metadata fields and Save Changes.

Publishing Artifact

Based on the Artifact Publishing Mode configuration for your tenant and the identified metadata, the Artifact state is determined :

  • Publish if basic metadata available: If Luma Knowledge identifies the mandatory metadata, i.e. Topic, Subjects, and Actions, Artifact is automatically set Published state. If the metadata is not found, Artifact is set to Draft state.

  • Publish Draft: Artifact is set to Draft state and must be reviewed and Published manually.

  • Publish Anyway: Artifact is automatically Published, with or without mandatory Artifacts.

Refer to Tenant Configurations for more information.

To Publish an Artifact, do the following:

  1. Click on View Artifact to view the Artifact in the Knowledge Store.

  2. You can Publish the Artifact to make it available for end-users to search and consume. Refer to Knowledge Store for more information.

  3. Click on Go To Dashboard, to navigate to the Luma Knowledge dashboard.

  • In case the Summary field is empty, information added to the Summary field on the selected template is automatically added as Artifact Summary and used to generate Ontology for the artifact. To add a different artifact summary, add the information in the Summary field.

  • Fields marked as Hidden in the selected template are not available for the curator while creating an Artifact manually. The fields are only used when the artifact is created by importing a Document with a template.

  • In case a Topic is not identified during the Ontology Generation, the Artifact is automatically linked to the default Topic under the selected Domain. You can update the Artifact and link it to the correct Topic in Knowledge Graph. Refer to Knowledge Graph for more information.

  • Based on the ‘Default artifact state on curation’ for the tenant, the artifact is Published. Based on the selected configuration and identified metadata, a new artifact can either remain in draft or bypass the manual review process to get directly Published.

  • If the selected template contains a 'Redirect Link' field, any artifact associated with the template when accessed through Luma Virtual Agent redirects to the URL added to the field in a new browser window.
