Install and Configure CMDB Gateway Probe
This section contains the following topics:
This article describes how to install and configure the CMDB Gateway probe and Intelligent Service Management Service Desk adapter. These components help synchronize data between CA Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) and the CMDB data.
The Service Desk adapter (sdsync) helps you to synchronize the UIM data with the CMDB data.
Install Service Desk Adapter
The sdsync.zip package can be installed on any platform that supports Java. The prerequisites for this package are as follows:
- java_jre version 1.6.0 or above
- UIM CMDB Gateway Probe (cmdbgtw) version 1.03 or above
Follow these steps:
- Download the sdsync.zip package.
- Using the Infrastructure Manager, drag the package to the target robot, and drop it there.
If the CMDB Gateway probe is not already present on the target robot, the sdsync.zip package installs it for you. The installer also creates a database connection (NIS Database connection) and an export (Service Desk export).
For information about installing and configuring the CMDB Gateway probe, download the document CMDB Gateway Probe Installation and Configuration Guide. This document is available with the CMDB Gateway Probe download (cmdbgtw) at http://support.nimsoft.com/Default.aspx?center=portal/downloads.
Configure CMDB Gateway Probe
Configure the CMDB Gateway (cmdbgtw) probe for use with the Service Desk Adapter.
Follow these steps:
- Launch the Infrastructure Manager and double-click the cmdbgtw probe. The configuration interface for the probe appears.
- Select the database NIS Database connection. Verify the connection parameters. If necessary, modify the parameters to connect to your specific NIS database instance.
- Select the export Service Desk Export.
- Add information about your web services user account. Ensure that you provide a username that has web services account in Serviceaide Intelligent Service Management.
Troubleshooting
If you are facing issues with the Service Desk Adapter, review the following items:
- Examine the cmdbgtw log, at probes/gateway/cmdbgtw. If the log shows zero (0) exported entities, the Service Desk adapter is receiving no data. Use the CMDB Gateway probe configuration interface to enable data export.
- After the first export, the probes/gateway/cmdbgtw/sdsync directory contains a log file that is named cmdbImport.log. This file contains the final output of the last run, which can provide clues to potential configuration errors.
- Examine the probes/gateway/cmdbgtwCIBulkImportUtility0.log log file. This log file contains full details of the last run, and helps you detect any errors.
If the command-line program fails, the CMDB Gateway probe does not change the Change Marker. The next export still detects the changes that occurred after the last successful run.
