Manage Models

This article contains the following topics:

A model is an IT product type and the purchase name of the software, hardware, and IT assets. Models would get defined first in the repository when discovery runs. For all the discovered assets, the default categorization is <hardware.asset>. You can change the default categorization to classify the assets correctly. For example, Hardware. Server or Hardware.Workstation. After model is classified in the repository, it acts like a product template for the physical assets that are created. The assets inherit the properties or attributes from the model, such as the name, asset, model, and manufacturer. You can populate models into the asset repository using the following processes:

  • Asset Discovery
  • Bulk Processing the Model worksheet
  • Manually creating models

As an administrator you can perform the following tasks:

  • Search Models

  • Take Bulk Actions on Models
  • Create a New Model
